Knowledge Pool is a digital capability support organisation based in Doncaster, United Kingdom. Our mission is to promote and improve digital literacy in our community. The project started with just one personal laptop, internet access and virtual conferencing software as a result of the quest of the founder to help friends and family with digital troubleshooting.

This simple act of support had progressed learners especially the vulnerable adjusting to life in the community such as immigrants, asylum seekers, people with low income, people from the black and Asian minority ethnic background, people with disabilities from no or little digital skills to competent level of fluent communication and performing major tasks with digital devices.

We helped a lot of people in our community to connect with their friends and families online during the Covid-19 Pandemic by providing digital devices like tablets and smartphones, internet access, digital guidebooks, and online training. Over 700 people had been supported from its inception. We have distributed over 50 digital devices (tablets and smartphones) and internet access since March 2020. We have created two digital guidebooks ” Getting Started with Digital Devices” and Getting Started with Online Meetings” sponsored by Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Community Foundation, and Lloyds Banking Group to support the digitally excluded people in our community.

This had helped a lot of parents in home-schooling, groups collaborating, families connecting together, individuals using online facilities like shopping, banking, booking prescriptions, booking appointments, registering for services, etc. We want to continue our online and face-to-face training but will also like to scale up by creating a digital club and buddies in the community.
